  • 6 cups tart apples thinly sliced and peeled
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp ground ginger
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving
  • Chopped nuts, such as pecans or walnuts optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F or 190°C.
  • Combine the apples, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger in a large bowl.
  • Pour the mixture into a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • If desired, sprinkle with chopped nuts.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
