Chocolate Cake Recipe

- 1 cup cake flour (120 grams)
- 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 0.5 tsp baking powder
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 0.5 cup butter (113 grams), at room temperature
- 1 cup sugar (200 grams)
- 2 eggs at room temperature
- 0.5 cup buttermilk (120 ml)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees°F or 180°C. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
Sift together the cake flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In the mixer bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Add the buttermilk and vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
With the mixer on low speed, add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined. Do not overmix.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely.
