  • 2 lb russet potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1.5 cups sharp cheddar cheese shredded


  • Preheat the oven to 350°F or 180°C.
  • In a large bowl, combine sour cream, heavy cream, garlic, onion, salt, and black pepper.
  • In a large casserole dish, layer one-third of the potatoes. Top with one-half of the sour cream mixture and one-half of the cheese. Repeat layers.
  • Bake, uncovered, for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
  • Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
