  • Slow Cooker


  • 1 lb dried black-eyed peas
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 ham hock
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper


  • Rinse the black-eyed peas and sort through them to remove any debris.
  • In a slow cooker, combine the black-eyed peas, water, onion, garlic, ham hock, salt, and black pepper.
  • Stir well and cover the slow cooker. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the peas are tender.
  • Remove the ham hock and discard it. Stir the peas well before serving.
