  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 onion diced
  • 1 green pepper diced
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 8 hamburger buns toasted


  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned and cooked well. Drain any excess grease from the pan.
  • Add the onion, green pepper, tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Stir until everything is evenly mixed and heated well.



    Be sure to cook the meat all the way through. The ground beef should cook to an internal temperature of 160°F or above.

    Serving Suggestions

    • Serve the sloppy joe mixture on toasted hamburger buns.
    • Top with shredded cheese, diced onions, or pickles if desired.
